A little off topic....

I know this blog is supposed to be about wedding stuff but today, I went shopping... I had a great time.

My new colour! Princesses Rule!

Priceline at Indooroopilly is closing down so they had 20% off EVERYTHING in store *JOY* So I got myself a few things including new eyeshadow, mascara (Maxfactor, I heart U!), I stocked up on my Pancake by Maxfactor foundation and finally got a set of make up travel bags.

I love these colours!

I found these bad boys today! I was introduced to Burts Bees by my good friend Miss Maddy and I've never looked back. These cleansing wipes remove dirt, oil and make up and contain White Tea Extract. They smell AMAZING!! They also have a proper lid to keep them moist.

Normally I use the More Moisture shampoo and conditioner but today I decided to go in a different direction. I've used the volumising shampoo as well and whoa mama, does it add volume. My hair is pretty much Texas beauty queen big as it is so I really don't need more volume. I'm hoping the Super Shiny works as well as the others and my hair becomes "super shiny".

The Suit

So I don't know how many of you have watched Burn Notice. Long story short, it's freaking awesome and you should all watch it! What does this have to do with suits for weddings I hear you ask. Well the leading man, Jeffrey Donovan aka Michael Westen is a gorgeous burned spy and dresses like a dream. The show is set in Miami Florida so it's a hot and sweaty climate not unlike the good ol' Sunshine State. Mr Westen always looks cool and composed even when under extreme pressure which he is most of the time. His suits always look expensive and tailored to an inch of their lives and Michael wears them oh so well. It's very much the look that is perfect for a smart/casual Queensland summer wedding.

The Dress

What makes the perfect dress? Is it the colour? The fabric? The designer? I'll let you in on a secret, it's none of these things. It's simply what makes your day perfect for you. Just like every other aspect of your wedding. Nothing else matters, no one elses opinion counts but yours and your husband to be. It's all about you two. The one day you can and should be totally selfish. If you start caring about what Great Aunt Meryl or your fiancees second cousins roommate thinks, then you're in trouble. And no offence, but you're also a bit of a dill.

In saying that, I have found the perfect dress for me and despite knowing that pretty much everyone who sees it will have a (not so positive) opinion of it, I couldn't care at all. I love the dress, it'll suit me, I'll feel comfortable in it and I'll always remember who good I felt on the day. To me that spells SUCCESS.

I hear what you say, that doesn't look like a wedding dress.... But seriously, why do we all strive to be carbon copies of each other on our "special" day? Give me a cogent argument and I'll admit I'm wrong. Well maybe not wrong but I'll change my opinion. So many gowns these days are EXACTLY THE SAME! Theres nothing of the individual bride in them. The one day that is totally about you and nothing of your personality or individuality is present. I'm making sure that everyone sees ME on our wedding day even if it's not "fashionable".  Call me pretentious if you wish but I'll care about that as much as I will about other peoples views on my wedding :D

Valentines Day

Ok so I totally get that a blog about a bride to be would not be complete without a V Day post even though we don't really make a big deal of it (other than our first together which I must say was FANTASTIC!). So here it is.

This was our 3rd Valentines Day together. We've done different stuff every year which I think is good. Don't want to get bored or anything. However, the last two years, Valentines Day has been through the week. Now I'm not saying I'm old but I like being in bed by 9pm most nights  (as does husband to be) so going out through the week doesn't really fit our lifestyle. We celebrate Valentines Day on the Saturday before which has other benefits aswell such as, there's no price hike cos of the date, there's no restrictions on menus etc because of the date and most importantly there isn't a billion other couples competing for a table/room/parking space etc.

This year we decided to go to dinner and a movie. Pepes Jindalee was the restaurant and Sherlock Holmes 2 was the movie, Unfortunately the movie didn't start til after 9pm.... And a massive storm was headed our way so once dinner was eaten (by 8pm even though I was dragging it out) we decided to just go home and snuggle on the couch with a movie. I must say, this was WAY better than sitting in a movie theatre.

Gifts (or I should say gift) were done earlier that week. I got to chose my own and I got a beautiful satin robe. Its a grey blue colour and I love it!
As yet I haven't given my gift (mostly cos I have NO idea what to get but I'm sure I'll think of something.
